What happened in Round 1?
The first round of Neighborhoods Where We All Belong consisted of multiple in-person events to introduce the effort and conduct initial community visioning to allow more housing in select areas. From late July through September, the City facilitate several pop-up’s and four community workshops:
Citywide Open House on Wednesday, July 30 at the Norma Hertzog Community Center
Harbor & Newport Boulevards Workshop on Thursday, August 21 at the Costa Mesa City Hall Community Room
Westside Walking Tour & Workshop on Saturday, August 23 at the Costa Mesa Senior Center
North Costa Mesa & SoBECA Workshop on Wednesday, September 10 at FLDWRK
What did we learn?
A summary of our first round of visioning was presented to City Council on November 4, 2025 and to Planning Commission on November 10, 2025. Links to those meetings, as well as the presentations and summary documents (What We Heard, What We Did, and What are the Details) are provided HERE.
What’s next?
The input received in Round 1 will help inform the work in Round 2 - draft zoning regulations for future housing development. For more information about the overall process, click HERE.
