Neighborhoods Where We All Belong kicks off at Open House

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Open House to kick off Neighborhoods Where We All Belong!

On Wednesday, July 30, Development Services hosted an Open House at the Norma Hertzog Community Center to start the public visioning process for planning new housing opportunities in Costa Mesa.

The event drew approximately 75 community members and they were joined by Council Members Jeff Pettis and Arlis Reynolds and Economic and Development Services Director Carrie Tai.

Also in attendance were Planning Commission Chair Jeff Harlan, Planning Commissioners Angely Andrade Vallarta and David Martinez, and other commission and committee members, City Engineer Seung Yang and other City staff. Planning Commissioner Rob Dickson joined the activities later in the evening.

The Open House was the first in a series of events for “Neighborhoods Where We All Belong,” the City’s coordinated campaign to implement a variety of Housing Element programs. In compliance with State law, implementing the City’s adopted Housing Element will result in increased housing development opportunities.

At the Open House, participants enjoyed refreshments, a photo station, and interactive exhibits to reflect on the types of housing they have lived in, share their vision and ideas for new housing, and prioritize characteristics that can create a good neighborhood.
